France can legalize the use of cannabis for medical purposes. Health minister Agnes Buzyn told France Inter at a radio station Thursday that "there is no reason to exclude cannabis as a medicine just because it is a cannabis."Answering the question of whether hemp cannabis in France would be legalized, the minister said: "This can happen."

She asks the qualified people to inform her about the scientific findings on the subject. So she wants to start a debate. According to A. Buzyn, cannabis may be of interest to various forms of pain therapy.

Cannabis for medical purposes has already been legalized by several EU countries. France has long been one of the most restrictive EU-wide laws. In January, the Ministry of the Interior announced that cannabis users will not necessarily face a prison sentence in the future, they will be able to only pay a monetary fine.
